I own two brooches ,they are both circa 1900 paste stones ,one the size of a ten pence coin and round with a red cross in the centre in red stones surrounded by clear the other oblong in shape and about half the size of a ten pence coin and has the stars and stripes on the front.Nothing remarkable about either both are well constructed both have a hinged pin with a safety lock and both pieces have a ring at the top so they could be mounted on a bar like a medal !.in the centre of each back is a raised star the same as the whit star logo the other reason I make the connection is they are from Liverpool. The red cross has one extra line of red stones so it is more like a crucifix than a medical cross. Can there be any connection with the white star line.
