how do two sisters divide one large diamond ring left to them from mother?

My mother recently died and left lots of jewelry, some costume and some other real. The biggest problem is how to fairly divide this...mainly her diamond ring. My sister told me prior to my mom's death that she never liked my mom's diamond ring. Now she claims she does and that if I want it I should pay her half the price I could get for it. I'm hoping that I don't have to do that..and have suggested we could do it another way. Does anyone have another way to do this? The ring is over 2 carats but it has 2 small chips in it that are hidden by the setting. The pawn shop I took it to says they would only pay 7,000.00 even tho' if it didn't have any chips it would be worth 25,000.00 so my sister wants her half of 7,000.00. Is this the only fair way? Help!! There's lots of other jewelry and she has two daughters and i have 2 sons. We are both in our 60's and should be saving for retirement rather than spending money on what is our inheritance. HELP!!

ok so I have larger necklaces and don't like big actuall jewelry boxes! so I wanted to make something myself that would be cute for necklaces to hang on and bracelets and rings! (I'm 14)
and so I want to make something that I can put on my wall and THEN hang stuff on it! nothing huge...I don't have A LOT of necklaces but I have enough to where I really need something for them.....I don't know what I should do! please tell me if you have any better ideas...or...if you know what I'm trying to make...help!!! haha thx guys! oh and I don't want to like spend alot of money making this project...it's ok if I need to go to like hobby lobby and buy some little things to go with it...but I don't really want to spend over $20 I don't think! either way plz let me know what I should do!

for a science project, me and my friend made one. all you have to do is this:

1. Find a lond pole-ish kind of wood, which is about a foot tall.
2. Nail in some hooks here and there, (you would want 14)
3. Glue-gun the pole to a little box (For studs or earrings?)
5. To get a good grade, me and my friend added a pretty little head and made clothes for it. you don't have to do that

If you're not happy with this, you can get holders for 10$ at Ardene's, Claire's, icings or at an accessory store.
